This is the battlefield that the ANZACS, withdrawn from Gallipoli, entered at the beginning of 1916.

In the midst of the battle one of Australia’s greatest soldiers, then Lieutenant Colonel Leslie Morshead, wrote "things are bloody, very bloody".
